The very first PvP map your have access to does not offer either CTF or TD games. Rather you have a single goal being the acquisition of points by killing the opposing team, no matter what it will always be Defiants vs. Guardians, and holding onto the Fang of Regulos. You may think this seems simple in nature but once you play your first match here you will know how complex things can become. If you want to keep PvP as simple as possible, get a Rift Planes of Telara Guide because you will need it especially should an Invasion occur. An Invasion is a server wide event confined to one area of Telara, Rift s world, that is the result of multiple Rift s opening up and never being closed. It is your duty as an Ascendant to close these Rifts to prevent such a problem and should an Invasion take place, you are called upon to stop it at all costs. You may shrug that off but if you and your fellow Ascendant leave an Invasion to be handled by the local NPC s, you may come back to entire camps, towns, and cities being over run with enemies. Yes, in Rift the world around you is never constant and is always in a state of turmoil. This all just means more fun and excitement for you and pain and suffering for those without a Rift Planes of Telara Guide. Rift offers so much to players that it is nearly impossible to summarise into a small amount of words. And, the game is so expansive that you will need a Rift Game Guide just to know where you are going, how to get there, and how to survive the trip. Even dungeons are not an easy walk through due to their mechanics that will throw any inexperienced player back to the grave. Too bad they did not have a Rift Game Guide to tell them that the last boss of a dungeon has the power to kill you with one unique power and there is only one way to prevent that power.
